Southwest Airlines recognized Baltimore as one of its operating bases. Southwest Airlines lists its main operating bases in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago-Midway, Dallas-Love, Denver, Houston-Hobby, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland, Orlando, Phoenix-Sky Harbor, and St. The airline utilizes many of its base airports as its rolling hubs and spreads out flights throughout the day. Instead, Southwest Airlines uses a rolling hub and a point-to-point network. The airline also has the unique business model of not operating the standard hub and spoke models many airlines use. Southwest flies on 3,584 routes connecting these destinations. Today, the airline serves 121 destinations in 12 different countries. Southwest also offers free drinks, flight changes, and two checked bags per passenger. Southwest is unique in that it does not have seat assignments and instead separates passengers into three groups and allows passengers to choose their seats. The airline has become the biggest low-cost airline due to its model of offering economy-class seats only. Currently, per ch-aviation data, Southwest uses 819 aircraft in total, although only 785 are currently active. Southwest Airlines also only flies aircraft from the Boeing 737 family.
